I have this paper calendar on my desk. Three fourths of the space on the left is devoted to a weekly calendar. It’s here that I’ve started making weekly meal plans, and writing down appointments and work schedules for the household. I am more likely to use this than a digital calendar I’ve realized, and I can easily get an idea of my non-work week which is a huge help.
But the right side, the smaller portion to the right of the calendar, with it’s own perforated markings ready to tear away from the stack, is a bulleted and lined list template with “To Do” written at the top. The implications are clear: this isn’t to take notes. This isn’t to track a call or meetings. This is to write down the tasks that need to get done, and to bubble in when they are complete.
Myself, I prefer a satisfying strike-through of that list. Making it clear that I am done with one task and ready for the next. The problem is some of them I foolishly put on there are never done. Or are such long term goals that they need to be split up. Then what? I have a reminder always dangling, always on my mind.
Sometimes life gets in the way, and it’s hard to think about the longer term. You have a running list of future plans and tasks and that quarterly and yearly and five and ten and twenty year plan goal list, and on and on. For me, the only fix is a bit of a break where I force myself away from the computer, and I force myself away from the list.
I’m going to take time off in a week and a half. I’m going to see a loved one and spend some uninterrupted time with them. I’m going to read. I’m going to watch cartoons. I’m going to do some writing for myself maybe.
I’m going to make space to breathe and think and look to the future and not just the task list that sits on my desk, always in view.

Twitch added lots of tags to identify your stream, lots of new ones to celebrate the diversity of streamers, which is great! They’ve even added a furry tag finally!
But I’ve also already had people stop by my stream to post hateful comments because of the tags that I’ve used, and I’m a fairly cis, boring, and intermittent streamer as is. Doing this long-term would be a nightmare.
